Center for Human Genetics and Laboratory Diagnostics, Dr. Klein, Dr. Rost and Colleagues

The Center for Human Genetics and Laboratory Diagnostics (MVZ) Dr. Klein, Dr. Rost and Colleagues in Martinsried began in 1998 as a spin-off from the Institute of Clinical Chemistry at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich. Initially working solely as a laboratory for human genetic studies, a genetic counseling center was established in 2005 and the range of services was successively expanded to include special laboratory diagnostics in the fields of immunogenetics, biochemistry and molecular pathology. In 2010, it became an interdisciplinary medical care center for human genetics and laboratory medicine, and in 2011, the approval for transfusion medicine was granted. In 2013, the specialist department of pathology with a focus on molecular pathology was founded, followed in 2014 by the specialist department of microbiology, virology and infection epidemiology. MVZ Martinsried became part of the international Medicover group in January 2019.

The common denominator for modern, integrated in-vitro diagnostics was and always will be the latest knowledge and newest technology in genome research and the link to clinical application. Particularly in times of high through-put technologies and the $1,000 dollar genome, the relationship between the clinic and the patient should not get lost. To this end, in addition to our extensive range of telephone consultation services, special medical consultation times have been established:

  • Genetic counseling (including consultation service)
  • Pediatric genetics (development disorders, syndromes)
  • Hereditary kidney diseases and metabolic disorders
  • Fertility disorders
  • Prenatal diagnostics, polar body diagnostics, preimplantation diagnostics and NIPT
  • Vaccination consultations
  • Social pediatric consultation, rehabilitation (private consultation Prof. Dr. med. Hubertus von Voß)

The core diagnostic competence of MVZ Martinsried is the analysis of body fluids and tissue samples by molecular, cytogenetic and biochemical techniques and flow cytometry, as well the modern analytical techniques of molecular diagnostics such as array CGH, SNP array, next generation sequencing, tandem mass spectrometry or whole genome expression profiling. From the beginning we have placed the highest demands on the quality of our services, highlighted by EFI accreditation in 2000, DIN EN ISO 9001 certification (2001), DIN EN ISO 15189 accreditation for medical laboratories (2003), DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation for testing and calibration laboratories (2004) and a universal GMP certificate (2008).

We would like to thank all our current and former employees and colleagues for their commitment, the shared journey and the achievements so far.
