Rubella Virus

Dr. med. Hartmut Campe, Dr. med. Hanns-Georg Klein

Scientific Background

Rubella virus infection, especially in pregnancy, is rare thanks to the high vaccination coverage. In 2013, the Robert-Koch-Institute reported a single case of congenital rubella embryopathy. However, the review of rubella virus immunity in early pregnancy is an unchanged part of the maternity policy guidelines. Documentation of two vaccinations or proof of rubella-specific antibody is required.
